Since March 19, California has been living under Executive Order N-33-20 requiring all residents to stay home except for those working in defined “critical infrastructure,” and requiring all people at all times to practice social distancing. The Governor’s order can be read here. To help Catholics understand the impact of this directive on parish life and Catholic practice, Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone has issued a series of messages to the people of the Archdiocese. His messages, and other important documents, can be found on the website https://www.sfarch.org/health-alerts.
Archbishop Cordileone has canceled travel and meetings during this time. He will be celebrating nonpublic Mass in St. Mary’s Cathedral daily (M-F) at 7:30 am; on Saturdays at 8:00 am; and on Sundays: March 29 at 1:00 pm (Spanish); and April 5 (Palm Sunday) at 11:00 am. All of these Masses from the Cathedral are livestreamed. The complete videotape of the Archbishop’s 11:00 am Mass from Sunday March 22, including his important homily, can be viewed here. The text of his March 22 homily can be read on this webpage: sfarch.org/homilies.
In addition to livestreamed liturgies, the Archdiocesan website offers online Prayers (sfarch.org/prayers) and Devotionals (sfarch.org/devotionals), and a guide for Keeping the Sabbath Holy at Home (sfarch.org/keeping-the-sabbath).
