Our Dear Parishioners,

To follow in the footsteps of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is the highest expression of being a Catholic Christian, that is to love whatever He loves, to oppose whatever he    opposes, to do whatever He does, and to aspire whatever He aspires. Now, as we enter once again the season of Lent and   prepare for the season of Easter, allow us to share some questions that will be guiding us in the weeks ahead.

How open am I to make quality time with God? How focused am I on His presence whenever I pray? While we truly admire people that are regularly doing an hour of prayer every day, many of us are still struggling to make a ten minute prayer time commitment for God daily. How can I deepen my friendship and intimacy with God if I don’t intentionally make time for prayer, with just me and God conversing and listening to each other?

How open am I to spend quality time in learning more about God? Is one hour a week too much? On Wednesday nights during Lent via zoom, with the guidance of the Office of Stewardship of the Archdiocese of San Francisco, we will be watching the “Search” with some guided reflections and discussions that are open to everyone, including our Spanish speaking parishioners. This is one of the many ways we can refresh or add our knowledge about God and his beloved creatures. Please join us!

How open am I to find time to reconcile with God? Lent is a call to reflect, repent, reconcile and renew. We are  transferring our penitential services and confessions to a Saturday morning rather than on another evening, hoping that this is more convenient and easier for penitents to participate.

We invite you to check our Lenten schedule. While we continue to do our traditional customs during this holy season, there might be some activities that may awaken your inner spiritual longing and interest, and propel you to grow in   loving and following Jesus Christ. Don’t forget also to get a copy of our suggested Lenten daily exercises. These are great help in doing an intentional Lenten observance.

We wish you then an intentional and prayerful weeks ahead.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Fr. Al and Fr. Manuel

After John had been arrested, Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God: “This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” (Mark 1:14-15)
