Easter Triduum 2024

Posted on March 22, 2024 in: General News

The Easter Triduum begins with the Vigil of Holy Thursday. It marks the end of the forty days of Lent and the beginning of the three-day celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ - Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Vigil/Easter Sunday. The Fathers of the Second Vatican Council reminded us of the extraordinary significance of the Triduum : "Christ redeemed us all and gave perfect glory to God principally through his paschal mystery: dying he destroyed our death and rising he restored our life. Therefore the Easter Triduum of the passion and resurrection of Christ is the culmination of the entire liturgical year." (General Norms for the Liturgical Year and the Calendar, # 18)

Join us as we celebrate as one St. Luke parish community the mysteries of our redemption during this Easter Triduum...

Holy Thursday, March 28, 2024

As I, the master and teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash one another’s feet. (John 13:14)

We are called to celebrate the Eucharist as an act of thanksgiving, remembrance and renewal of our unity with Jesus Christ.

MASS OF THE LORD'S SUPPER (7:00p.m.)

ADORATION in the community center after Mass until 11:00p.m.

(Note: If you wish to stay in the Chapel for Adoration after 11:00pm until morning of Good Friday, please register at the parish office).

Good Friday, March 29, 2024

We have received the gift of eternal life because Jesus was obedient to the will of the Father.

And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, “Father, INTO YOUR HANDS I ENTRUST MY SPIRIT.” And having said this, He died. (Luke 23:46)

STATIONS of the CROSS (12:15p.m.)

REFLECTIONS on the SEVEN LAST WORDS of CHRIST (1:00p.m.)

CELEBRATION of the LORD's PASSION (2:00p.m.)

Veneration of the Cross: As Catholics, we revere the cross; our crucifixes bear the image of Christ crucified.  With this powerful image, we can be moved to join our own sufferings to His and, in this way, help further the salvation of the world.  In the love of God for humanity manifested by the cross, we can find ultimate meaning in both the joys and sorrows of life.

Holy Communion: In venerating the cross with a touch or kiss, we humbly recognize the cross as the tree of life. Now, as we come forward to receive holy Communion, we are fed by bread from heaven, the Lord Himself, so that we may continue to grow in our faith and conform our lives to His.

Holy Saturday, March 30, 2024

EASTER VIGIL of the RESURRECTION of the LORD (8:00p.m.)

We begin on this holiest of nights gathered around a fire, a source of light and a sign of hope in the darkness.  When this flame is shared from the paschal candle, symbol of Christ, to all of our candles, let the light of Christ spread to every darkened corner of our world. We proclaim Christ’s victory over death, recall God’s goodness throughout history, renew our own baptism, then share together in the Paschal Feast.

EASTER SUNDAY, the RESURRECTION of the LORD, March 31, 2024

Easter Sunday Masses at 9:00a.m. and 10:30a.m.

Easter Egg Hunt after the Easter Sunday Masses.

Alleluia, Christ is risen!

The love of Christ’s cross triumphs over sin and death.  From humiliation, brutality and pain come redemption and salvation.

A CHRIST-FILLED TRIDUUM to ALL!
