"The Light is On for You this Lent"

Confessions on the Thursdays of Lent at St. Luke Church

This Lent, the Archdiocese is undertaking an initiative to encourage greater participation in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, especially among those who have not received this sacrament recently. 'The Light is on for You' began in the Washington, DC metro area and has spread throughout the country over the last decade.

Archbishop Cordileone has encouraged all pastors to open their parishes for confessions on the Tuesdays of Lent from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, as a means of making the sacrament more convenient and available: The Archbishop says, "Ultimately, the ‘light being on’ throughout the whole Archdiocese is a sign to our people of God’s desire for reconciliation with them and His great delight in bestowing His mercy upon them."

Here at St. Luke’s, due to circumstances, we will have our Lenten Confessions every Thursday at 6:00 pm followed by Benediction at 7:00 pm.  If there are still penitents, confession will continue until 8:00 pm after the Benediction.

But if we confess our sins to God, he will keep his promise and do what is right: he will forgive us our sins and purify us from all our wrongdoing. (1 John 1:9)
