The Archdiocese of San Francisco Office of Worship is offering six-hour formation sessions for new and experienced Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion & Readers on November 9 and 16, 2019 at St. Matthias Parish in Redwood City.
In the morning of the first Saturday, ministers are introduced to sacramental theology, particularly that of the Eucharist. Next, presenters who are experts in the field, offer technical and spiritual direction for the minister’s specific liturgical role.
Finally, extraordinary ministers prepare for bringing Holy Communion to the sick and homebound, while readers conclude with coaching in proclamation and oral interpretation.
Those who have not undergone previous training are encouraged to attend the formation sessions for a well-rounded understanding of the ministry. Ministers & Readers must attend BOTH Saturdays to receive a certificate of completion. Registration fee will be shouldered by St. Luke Parish. Register at the parish office before October 30, 2019.
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons" (1 Corinthians 12:4-6)
