Today, Pentecost Sunday, we are celebrating the birth of our Church, the day of fulfillment of the promise of Christ, the Holy Spirit, Who came as wind and fire upon the apostles. With our Blessed Mother, they devoted themselves with one accord to prayer, proclaiming the Gospel to the ends of the earth.

This same Divine Spirit visits us anew, revives our souls and empowers us to bear fruit for God's kingdom, as He brings us to communion with Christ each time we participate in our Lord's Eucharistic Sacrifice.  The Holy Spirit descends upon us each time we invite Him to come and kindle our hearts with the fire of His divine love, and whenever we plead Him to renew the face of the earth, especially our COVID19-torn world.

Let us continue to place our faith in Christ's promise, that His gift of the Holy Spirit continues to dwell in each one of us, binding us all together in the power of His love, uniting us in His peace. And as we await our homecoming to our beloved St. Luke's, we continue to entrust ourselves to the Spirit of God who sanctifies, nourishes, and heals each member of Christ's Church.

Ever grateful for your patience and perseverance.  Sending you God's blessings.

A most Spirit-filled Pentecost Sunday, dear friends at St. Luke!

In Christ, with prayers for all of you,

Rev. Jonathan Paala

Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit."  John 20:21-22
