Dear St. Luke friends,
On this 18th Sunday in Ordinary Time, Christ comes to our rescue and addresses the famine we experience within our souls. His heart is moved with great love for us and desires to offer us healing, strength and nourishment. We are filled with His love each time we encounter Him, truly alive in the Eucharist.
In spite of the challenges we face in our Church's sacramental life of worship, we continue to be thankful for Christ's gift of Himself in the Eucharist. He is the Bread of Life who satisfies our hunger, cures all our ills, and assures us that no matter what befalls us in this world, He will raise us up unto life everlasting with Him.
Christ longs to lavish upon us His lifelong gift of grace through the sacraments He instituted. I enjoin all of you to continue being fed by Christ's love in the Eucharist (St. Luke OUTDOOR MASS/ virtual Mass at home/ visit to the Blessed Sacrament), and Reconciliation (Saturday confessions in St. Luke Church 4-4:30pm). These fonts of graces sustain us especially during this difficult time.
Along with the sacraments, let us also help promote health by observing the 4 W's:
Wear a face covering
Watch your distance
Wash your hands
Whisper a prayer
Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone is asking us to unite in prayers "for a restoration of public worship unhindered, for a swift end to this pandemic, for health care workers and researchers, and for government officials who must make very complicated decisions for the overall well-being of our communities."
Thanking you for your sacrifices, prayers and support. God grant you all a grace-filled and safe week ahead.
In Christ, with prayers for all of you,
Rev. Jonathan Paala
Pastor
Taking the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he said the blessing, broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples, who in turn gave them to the crowds. (Matthew 14:19)
