Dear Friends in Christ,

On the Solemnity of Christ the King, we celebrate Jesus' triumphant rule over the entire universe.  Christ is our sovereign Lord who wears no crown but the thorns of sufferings He bore for love of us.  He has no throne but the Cross which conquered the evil of sin and death and opened to us the gates of the kingdom of heaven. He exercises no worldly power but the divine power of His unfathomable love and mercies gushing forth from His Heart.

How often do we allow Christ to reign in our hearts?  There are times when anxieties, mundane concerns, pursuit of wealth and happiness, self-centeredness and occasions of sin govern us.  Our King calls us to repent and let go of these false gods.  He summons us to make Him the Shepherd and Ruler of our hearts - to surrender all to His Will as we seek first His Kingdom and make Him the center of our lives.  Our sovereign God grants us an inheritance in His Kingdom as we faithfully serve Him as our true King and follow His command of love - feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty, welcoming the stranger, clothing the naked, caring for the sick and imprisoned.

And so, let us render homage to our King through humble offering of merciful acts.  Let us worship our King and gather together before His Eucharistic Feast, where we are sustained by the power of God's Spirit amid toils and hardships, and given a share in communion with the Most Precious Body and Blood of Christ, our majestic Lord, until we finally receive His invitation, “Come you who are blessed. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.”

In Christ, united in prayers and thanks,

"Then the king will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world." (Matthew 25:34)
