Dear Friends in Christ,
In celebrating the glorious feast of the Assumption, we celebrate the greatness of the Lord, the greatness of God's saving mercies exemplified in the life of our Blessed Mother.
From birth, God preserved her from original sin and, until the end of her life on earth she was preserved from the corruption of death. With her Fiat, she received the greatest gift of all, conceiving the Son of God in her womb, through the power of the Holy Spirit. All her life, she proclaimed how great and good the Lord is. In jubilation and in sorrow, even along the way of Her Son's Cross, our Blessed Mother's life magnified the splendor of God's love. God's love, united with Her immaculate love, has lifted her to the highest heavens.
As we seek the intercession of our Blessed Mother, our lives too will be a constant Magnificat of praises unto our Lord Almighty for the great things He has done for us. I hope that in the midst of sorrow, especially with the recent passing of my sister who succumbed to covid-19 last weekend, I can continue to proclaim the goodness of God, trusting that God has opened the gates of paradise with the promise of eternal life to my sister and that God is embracing our loved ones during this difficult time of loss. I believe, that like our Blessed Mother, my sister and all of us will also be raised up and carried by our loving Creator unto life everlasting.
This Sunday, let us come and celebrate together at the Eucharistic Feast with our Immaculate Mother and our fellow parishioners to praise and thank God for His unending mercies and loving promises. No matter what trial we might be facing, we are assured that God and our Blessed Mother are with us - our travails are turned into a humble sacrificial offering of love to Christ, our Savior and Lord. And with one voice we acclaim, “Now have salvation and power come, and the Kingdom of our God and the authority of his Anointed One.”
God is love,
Fr. Al
